Gaga will have three songs put forward for consideration at the upcoming Academy Awards.
On Tuesday, Warner Bros. revealed its selection of tracks from the A Star Is Born soundtrack to contest the Best Original Song category at the 91st Academy Awards. According to its website, the studio is submitting three songs in the hope of securing multiple nominations.
The chosen songs are ‘Shallow’, ‘I’ll Never Love Again’ and ‘Always Remember Us This Way.’
Gaga has a writing credit and performs on all the selected songs. The Academy only allow two songs from a single film to be nominated. If previous years are anything to go by, the ballads will likely pick up more than one nomination. In 2016, La La Land scored two nominations and collected the gong for ‘City Of Stars’.
Awards prediction website, Gold Derby, currently lists Gaga as the frontrunner for Best Actress at next year’s awards. She is perched slightly ahead of veteran actress Glenn Close who is expected to grab a nomination for her performance in The Wife.
Gold Derby is the leading source in Hollywood for awards predictions and news. Much like Rotten Tomatoes it gathers predictions from leading industry reviewers, experts and editors which then aggregates them into racetrack odds.

When it comes to the upcoming Golden Globe Awards, Warner Bros. is controversially contemplating to contest A Star Is Born in the more competitive drama categories rather than in a Musical or Comedy. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association are yet to approve the submission
It’s well known the HFPA slightly favours less traditional films than the Academy. If Gaga takes home the globe for Best Leading Actress in a Drama it would put her in prime position to win at the Oscars.
Since its release the album and its lead single, ‘Shallow’ have led the Irish charts. In less than three weeks, the film surpassed the $200 million sum at the worldwide box office.
The 91st Academy Awards take place on February 24, 2019 and the nominations will be announced a month prior.
