When's the last time you saw a really good ghost story?Well if it's been a while then chances are you won't have to wait much longer, judging by the calibre of expertise involved in the upcoming, partially homegrown The Little Stranger.

The Little Stranger is based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Waters. The 1940's set story follows a doctor in the English countryside (Gleeson) who befriends a dysfunctional family living in a rundown mansion. As unexplained events occur that coincide with the strain of the financial troubles of maintaining and running the estate, tensions and old secrets begin to arise.

While the space in this home sounds much more expansive than the dingy interior of his last film Room, Abrahamson looks set to make another claustrophobic chiller.
Poulter, Wislon and Rampling play members of the family living uneasily in a creepy abode . The Little Stranger will be made in association with Element Pictures and the Irish Film board.
