Five ring bearers, or the Planeteers with the four elements of nature and the power of heart combine their powers to make Captain Planet, Defender of Earth. They regularly fight bad guys who apparently pollute the earth just for the heck of it, and not for profit. The combination of their rings is meant to symbolize the power of teamwork, but Captain Planet does all the hard work for them, himself.

That's the basic premise of Captain Planet, and it's as cheesy as it sounds. That hasn't stopped Paramount Pictures and Leonardo DiCaprio from teaming up to tackle the project. If anything, the cheese is why it's given its ironic affection.

No deal has been made yet, but Paramount is looking to acquire the rights to adapt the dorky cartoon to live action. The group is eyeing Scream Queens Glen Powell for the film. If greenlit, the movie will be co-produced through Leonardo DiCaprio's own Appian Way Productions.
