Following the release of single 'Space Cadet', Lil Uzi has updated their preferred pronouns to they/them.
Over the weekend, American rapper Lil Uzi Vert changed their pronouns on Instagram to they/them. Instagram allows users to put pronouns in their bio in a new feature as a simple way to encourage people to feel comfortable sharing their preferred pronouns. It also allows users to quietly update their pronouns on Instagram without needing to make an announcement or statement. This is what Lil Uzi Vert has done, as they are yet to address the change.
This came after Uzi's latest single release, the bass-heavy 'Space Cadet', teasing upcoming EP Red & White. The EP precedes their fifth full-length studio album The Pink Tape, for which they've been building up anticipation for quite some time.
They announced back in May that they were working on music and they'd be "going back in classic mode." Although there is no release date for the EP or full length album, we can expect another single from Red & White soon, as Uzi wrote on Instagram "think imma drop another one," along with bat emojis.

Lil Uzi Vert has long been known for their androgynous fashion sense. They've even been praised in the past for "redefining men's fashion," often seen wearing women's blouses and carrying purses. Vogue credited Uzi along with others like Young Thug and Lil Nas X for bringing a femme style to hip-hop. Uzi has faced some ridicule on social media for their outfit choices, but they haven't been fazed by it. They explained they wear women's clothes because they've "already bought everything in the mens section."

It is becoming increasingly normalised for hip-hop artists to break out of gender norms, and more and more artists are becoming comfortable enough to come out as non-binary. By being open about their identities, celebrities are also able to set examples for their fans and serve as representation for young non-binary people.
