The singer-songwriter and only daughter of Elvis Presley died earlier this year at the age of 54.
The LA County Medical Examiner has revealed Lisa Marie Presley's cause of death to be a delayed consequence of bariatric weight loss surgery, specifically a small bowel obstruction.
"The obstruction was in the form of a strangulated small bowel caused by adhesions that developed after bariatric surgery years ago," read the report today, published six months after her death. "This is a known long-term complication of this type of surgery."
Presley died on 12 January of this year, after she was taken to hospital from her home where she reportedly suffered cardiac arrest. Two days earlier she appeared at the Golden Globe Awards alongside her mother, Priscilla Presley. Austin Butler won the Golden Globe's Best Actor award for his portrayal of her father in Baz Luhrmann's film Elvis.

Sofia Coppola also recently released a trailer for her upcoming biopic, Priscilla, which centres around Lisa Marie's mother Priscilla Presley.
Presley was nine years old when her father died of heart failure at the age of 42. She followed in her father's footsteps and established a music career of her own in the 2000s. She released three studio albums, all of which reached the Billboard 200 chart. Additionally, Lisa Marie Presley released multiple posthumous duets with her father, from tracks he recorded before he died.
The talent was married four times, famously to pop legend Michael Jackson as well as actor Nicolas Cage. The musician is survived by her three daughters, actress Riley Keough and twins Finley and Harper Lockwood. Lisa Marie is buried with other members of her family at Graceland, including her father and her son, who died in 2020 at age 27.
