Tyrone Tunes
Local hero - by way of Tyrone - Lisa McLaughlin, already familiar to anyone with a bit of taste at all from some high-profile support slots as well as being the hostess with the mostest of the long-running and much-lamented Saucy Sunday gigs in Dublin's Grand Social - which gave a lot of bands a much needed leg up, has seen fit to release not one but two mini albums.
The first one - Seven Colours - features a couple of tracks recorded with multi-talented studio maven Gavin Glass in his Orphan Recordings complex (currently constructing its first franchise outlet in Wexford). These two heroes come together nicely on 'Sooner Or Later' - Glass's over-driven guitar behind that voice - as well as a live in the studio version of the title track featuring some lovely tight-but-loose drumming from Scott Halliday.
The second record -Rainy Day Songs - is an all acoustic affair and I direct you straight to the lovely 'Quiet Now' as a good place to start. Talking about quiet, I know for experience how powerful Lisa's performance's can be as her dulcet tones once managed to keep my two nephews from killing each other at a wedding, transfixed as they were before her.

Anyway, Lisa is practically giving these songs away - although not quite, she's not a thick - over at her Bandcamp page. Away you go.
