'Backstage at Mike The Pies' is produced and presented by Megan O’Donoghue, and features some of the brilliant artists who have played socially-distanced shows at Mike The Pies during lockdown.
Lockdown boredom has found a cure in Hot Press' hugely successful podcast, Backstage At Mike the Pies.
Host Megan O'Donoghue chats to some of the exciting up-and-coming artists who have graced the stage of the legendary Listowel venue, which has built up a reputation as one of Ireland's most beloved music halls.
Since the beginning of lockdown, Mike The Pies has hosted a series of special gigs, run with the support of the Department of Tourism, Culture, the Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, as part of the Live Performance Support scheme.
Some of Ireland's most noteworthy artists have performed in the venue in gigs broadcasted on Facebook Live, including such stellar artists as Jack O’Rourke, Junior Brother, Sorcha Richardson, Emma Langford, Mick Flannery, TV People and Susan O’Neill (SON), among many others.
Episode 4 is now live, and features brothers Colm and Eoin from North Dublin band Melts. The musicians' chat with Megan is now live on Apple and Google Podcasts. In the podcast, the talented duo discuss the origins of Melts, choosing which singles to release, favourite memories as an outfit, their primary influences and much more.
The psychedelic band formed back in 2017 and released their debut single, 'Skyward' to critical acclaim. Drawing comparisons to The Stone Roses, the group has struck a chord with indie fans as well. They've toured with Fontaines D.C., and released previous singles 'Seesaw' and 'Echoes' in 2019.
