Revisit Cork's Jordan Run performance on the Hot Press Y&E Series – supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
Based in Cork, Jordan is an independent, multi-genre artist who blends styles from rock and blues into contemporary hip hop and soul. His powerful, anthemic songs have been winning hearts and minds far beyond the Rebel County. With ten singles and two EPs under his belt since 2019, Jordan's debut album is scheduled for release later this month.
A student at Cork’s CIT, where he studies music and production, Jordan writes and produces his own music. The skilled guitarist has featured at the Ruby Sessions in Dublin, as well as packing-out his debut show at Coughlan's in Cork. Having done support slots with Ariel Posen, Cory Wong (Vulfpeck) and James Arthur, as well as making major festival appearances at a number of major festivals, Jordan took the Y&E Series in his stride last Sunday night.
Starting the audience off with some impressive guitar noodling, Jordan kicked off his busy set with the first tune he ever released - 'Olivia'. The heartfelt sincerity of the lyrics and infectious hook make it clear to see how his 2019 track showcased his endless potential to the Irish music scene.
Making decent use of a loop pedal, the musician offered up raw covers of both John Mayer's 1999 hit 'Neon' and Aussie artist Matt Corby's 2017 track 'Brother'. Jordan's influences are easy to deduce based on his choices, yet the singer-songwriter puts his own spin on each rendition. 'Change Your Mind', released in 2019, is up next. The vulnerable song was debuted in Cork establishment Dwyer's two years ago.
A take on Milky Chance's catchy single 'Stolen Dance' follows, before an original song 'Gold' is delivered by the up-and-comer. Finishing the livestream with a rousing number about drinking (fitting for a Bank Holiday Weekend, if you ask us), Jordan Run demonstrated his stage presence through a screen.
Not an easy task to achieve, but the Cork musician has whipped up much anticipation for his upcoming album Honest.
