The new edition of the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions' Y&E Series continues tonight – supported by the Department of Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht.
Initially rising to prominence as a busker, KK Lewis has since proved her star power with sold-out headliners and lauded appearances at Electric Picnic, Kaleidoscope and Whelan's. Earlier this year, she released her stunning single 'Loop Now'.
Kicking off her livestream set with a soulful rendition of new track 'Dreaming', her mellow vocals take the audience to a faraway place with their age-defying tone. Progressing into 'Pedals', a chilled out version of the original creates the intimate and relaxed atmosphere that suits the Monday blues perfectly. Lewis then sang a cover of the Frank Ocean cult hit 'Ivy', adding her own trademark smooth voice to the nostalgia lyrics.
The musician then performed her recent single 'Loop Now', produced by Papa Rua, who was assisting her on guitar for the set. Her isolation song, 'Fear', was next on the list - and was more than applicable to the current lockdown cabin fever. Speaking about her forthcoming EP, due out in 2021, Lewis said that some experimental visuals and artwork have been created for the collection of tracks, and the style is different to everything she's done before. Some of the main inspiration include Prince and Frankie Knuckles, so we can't wait to see how it turns out. Lewis finished up her down-tempo set with a beautiful song 'First Bus Home' - her personal favourite and dedicated to Abbie.
Overall, her livestream successfully built up momentum for what's set to be a bit 2021 for the artist.
