Some like it hairy?
The lock of Monroe's hair is expected to reach £6,000.
One of the worlds greatest sex symbols, various items belonging to Monroe are up for auction this coming November. Her golden tresses were property of the Monroe's dear friend, Frieda Hull. Hull acquired the hair from Monroe's hairdresser. This celebrity hair-auctioning malarky has become quite the craze. In June, David Bowie's strands went for an incredible £13,700, whilst in 2002 somebody purchased Elvis Presley's hair for an extortionate £87,300.
The hairs will laid out in a violet box. Other items up for auction is the black ensemble worn by Monroe in Some Like it Hot, a tube of her Revlon lippy, a pair of sequinned gloves she donned in The Seven Year Itch and several of her handbags.
Monroe would have turned 90 in June. She committed suicide in 1962 following a lengthy battle with addiction. She remains today one of the biggest pop-culture icons.
