Sleight of hand
An HTC M8 makes you walk with a limp. A Samsung Galaxy 35 requires a backpack. Big phones come with big problems: like accidentally “butt-calling” people from your pocket. Nokia Lumia 530 is the perfect size if you want a smartphone just to be a phone. It’s not the prettiest smartphone in the world, but ultimately they’re all just variations on rectangles.
Switch on the 530, however, and you’ll see inadequacies when compared to the similarly priced Lumia 520. The screen display is duller. The Windows Live Tiles are lifeless, and they give up the ghost completely when viewed in direct sunlight.
Like a dementia sufferer, the phone has a shortage of memory: 4GB compared to 520’s 8GB. There’s no front facing camera, to the horror of narcissists, and video quality drops from 520’s 720p to 480p. Pre-installed apps (Facebook, Skype, Nokia Radio) make up for these shortcomings, but you’d still be better off with a Nokia Lumia 520.
