The new release is the second preview from Lykke Li's upcoming album EYEYE. The 36-year-old hasn't added a Dublin date to her upcoming tour as of yet.
Indie pop artist Lykke Li has released 'Highway To Your Heart', a new single from her upcoming album EYEYE.
The Swede has also announced dates for her October UK and European tour, with tickets on sale soon.
The new album that will be out May 20th has been described as an "immersive audiovisual album'. The new record sees Li reunite with producer and frequent collaborator Björn Yttling. The two have previously worked together on Li’s first three solo albums and as members of Swedish-American supergroup Liv. Li’s last album, 2018’s so sad so sexy, was her first without Yttling at the helm.
According to Li, EYEYE was recorded entirely in her Los Angeles bedroom and was her attempt to "compress a lifetime of romantic obsession and female fantasy into a hyper sensory landscape."
"There were no click-tracks, no headphones, and no digital instruments," she adds. "The vocals were recorded on a handheld $70 [£53] drum mic, often in the moment of composition, giving the lyrics the still-beating sound of fresh heartbreak being whispered into your ear. I wanted the record to have the intimacy of listening to a voice memo on a macro dose of LSD."

There will also be a visual accompaniment released alongside the full album in the form of several one minute videos that will explore a larger narrative of love, death, and obsession.
The visuals are directed by Theo Lindquist and feature Israeli actor Jeff Wilbusch, from the 2021 film Oslo and the TV series Unorthodox. The videos are shot on 16 millimetre film by cinematographer Edu Grau who previously worked on American fashion designer turned filmmaker Tom Ford's directorial debut A Single Man.
"We wanted to capture the beauty and grandeur of a three-hour European arthouse movie, while making something native to modern media,” Li said of the album’s visuals. “The intention is to deliver the full impact of a movie in sixty seconds on a phone screen, which is where most of our emotional experiences happen now anyway."
Lykke Li will also be embarking on a US tour that will kick off in San Diego at the end of September and conclude at New York's Apollo theatre in early October.
Lykke Li's fourth solo album EYEYE will be out May 20th.
