"I always find it very inspiring to see young people's outlook on life and their energy," he once stated when visiting his old school. "It was a privilege for me to do that. It was an honour to go back and have a chat with them."
Fassbender last visited his alma mater in 2019 when he was back in Killarney for the car racing event, Rally of The Lakes.

The actor was born in Germany, but his family moved to the village of Fossa from Heidelberg in 1979 and he began acting as a student at St Brendan's College.
"This is my home. This is where I grew up. It's a very magical place. This is the place that formed my personality," he exclaimed.
The Hollywood star was once an altar boy at the nearby Prince of Peace Church in Fossa, and he attended the local national school before going on to St Brendan's.
Fassbender's most recent visit follows the news that his family have applied for planning permission to turn their former restaurant in Killarney, West End House, into an acting school.
