The new track looks to help those dealing with Alzheimer's, with 11,000 new cases diagnosed in Ireland every year.
Mike Hanrahan of Stockton’s Wing fame has come together with the Forget-Me-Nots Choir to release 'A River Rolls On', a new charity single for the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland.
Performing with Lisa Lambe and Sandy Kelly, Hanrahan wrote the track for the all-inclusive choir, with all proceeds going to the charity.
The track was inspired by him watching his mother go through vascular dementia with him "imagining her life as a beautiful meandering river starting high in the mountains, nourishing many, giving so much to the world as it gently rolls to the sea."
He chose to write for and perform the track with the Forget-Me-Nots Choir, which aims to unite "older people and those affected by dementia with caregiver family and friends." Norah Constance Walsh provided the arrangement for the track.
You can purchase and listen to the track below on the Forget Me Nots Choir's Bandcamp.
