The M.Phil programme offers a blend of theory and hands-on experience – providing students with the skills to succeed in the thrilling field of Music & Media Technologies.
A passion for music and the cutting-edge technology that brings it to life can lead to a multitude of remarkable careers – as alumni of Trinity College Dublin's MPhil in Music & Media Technologies know better than most. Later this month, on May 30, the college is holding a virtual information session about the unique programme, which will allow those interested in the course to gain valuable insights from current students, alumni and faculty members.
The MPhil in Music & Media Technology programme is designed to provide students with an engaging blend of theory and hands-on experience – giving them the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in this exciting, ever-changing field. As part of the course, students learn about music production, audio engineering, interactive media, and much more, all while working with state-of-the-art equipment and software.
Covering a wide range of subjects within the general field of music technology, and providing students with a fully professional qualification, the programme can be taken full-time over a 12 month period, or part-time over a 24 month period.
The faculty members are renowned experts in their respective fields, with extensive experience in both academia and industry. They're committed to providing students with the highest quality education and mentorship, and helping them to achieve their personal and professional goals.
MMT graduates have pursued careers in the arts as composers, musicians and performers in an extremely wide and diverse range of styles and genres. Many others have embarked on careers in education and academic research; digital signal processing; software and hardware development; audio engineering; sound design for gaming, film, theatre, and virtual reality; acoustics; video editing; TV and film production; and web design.
Kicking off at 3pm, the information session will offer a programme overview – presented by Dr. Enda Bates, Deputy Course Director & Assistant Professor in Electronic & Electrical Engineering – which will also touch on the range of options and supports available for students. The virtual session will provide time at the end for questions.
