With a name like that, villainy is a contractual obligation.
Hugh Jackman’s back for a third Wolverine movie, or seventh, if you’re feeling snarky. It’s notable that this will be Hugh Jackman’s final appearance as the character. The movie is based on the comic book miniseries, Old Man Logan, which told a story of a future Wolverine where his regenerative ability has slowed down with age and has retired to live a quiet life with a wife and children. Unfortunately, most of the heroes are dead, with the United States divided up into territories ruled by super villains. Fate has other plans for Wolverine.
We can only assume that the movie will make broad strokes with this adaptation. Many of the character from the story, such as Hawkeye, Red Skull, and the Hulk, have their movie rights in Marvel Studios and Disney, precluding any chance of their appearance in the adaptation.
Mr. Sinister, a recurring X-Men villain, looks to remedy this problem. Also appearing is Patrick Stewart, a welcome return as Professor Xavier. His role for the story will also be completely new, since he was absent from the comic book.
