Musical Remember That Time? coming back to Dublin

Remember That Time? A Musical is coming to the Smock Alley Theatre on October 14 & 15. Written by Dubliner Annmarie Cullen, it won the Edinburgh Fringe Theatre Award, Best Performance at the Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, and the Dublin Fringe Festival Bursary Award.

The autobiographical one-woman show centres around a musician who leaves LA to be with her partner and takes a corporate job.

The choices estrange her from both her own identity and her wife, and she winds up starting over alone in Dublin after 25 years away.

"Remember That Time? is a gay person telling her story. It's authentic", Cullen told Hot Press in an interview before the musical's first performance.

"Listeners know [...] when it's something really derived from personal experience. You get the wins when they find parallels with what you're saying about your life--that's the goal".

Cullen spent two decades in LA as a TV and film songwriter, where she signed deals with Disney and Warner Bros., among others. She was also in an indie rock band, Saucy Monky. This is her first original musical.

The play includes video segments featuring comedian Gearóid Farrelly and singer Naimee Coleman.
