Frankly, this could be the best season to date.
Award-winning Netflix original series House of Cards premiered its season six finale in Los Angeles last night. Robin Wright, Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear among those that attended the premiere in California. The final season of the successful show will expose the fall of the Underwoods as their victims seek revenge. New episodes coming 2 November to Netflix.
The series returns to Netflix after much controversy surrounding lead actor Kevin Spacey, who played protagonist Frank Underwood. Following sexual assault allegations against Spacey, House of Cards was extremely close to cancellation. Writers opted to deal with the murder of Frank Underwood instead of killing off the show. His character's death is revealed in a teaser for the new season.
Spacey was fired from the Netflix drama as a result of claims against the actor. Despite allegations the actor will not be prosecuted as the Los Angeles prosecutors deemed the assaults in question to have occurred too long ago, in 1992 to be exact.
In this brand new season Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) reclaims the power as the first female President of the United States. An appropriate route for the series and fitting with the current issues of 2018. Netflix executives made the decision to properly conclude the popular series on their own terms. Featuring a strong female lead it differentiates the new from the old. Although, the trailer makes the sixth season appear just as dramatic, intense and chilling in parts.
