It will be India's first original horror show
A release date has been set for Ghoul, a three-part horror from Blumhouse and Netflix.
Out August 24 in Ireland, Ghoul centres on a prisoner who arrives at a remote military interrogation centre and turns the tables on his interrogators, exposing their most shameful secrets.
The series logline teases: "You can fight the demons of this world but what about the ones that aren't?"
Produced also by global production company Ivanhoe, as well as the Indian Phantom Films, the show marks Netflix’s first venture into the horror genre in India.
Speaking about the series, Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum said in a statement: "“It has been a great experience working closely with Netflix and our partners at Phantom and Ivanhoe to produce Ghoul. This is Blumhouse’s first foray into the horror genre in India and we’re excited to share this project with horror enthusiasts around the world.”
Meanwhile, Vikramaditya Motwane of Phantom Films, said, “Ghoul is an edge-of-your-seat horror series and yet another strong example of commitment towards high quality content. We are extremely proud of Ghoul and cannot wait for audiences around the world to experience an elevated horror narrative from India.”

Originally, shot as a film, Ghoul has been split into three episodes by Netflix. The streaming platform previously did this with 2015 miniseries Residue.
This is not the first collaboration between Phantom Films and Netflix. Just last Friday, Indian series Sacred Games was released by the streaming company.
Sacred Games focuses on a police officer who attempts to thwart a terrorist attack in Mumbai after being warned by a notorious criminal. The Guardian said the crime thriller's 'uncompromising performances, script bristling with lyricism, and intriguing air of vibrancy and originality' could kickstart a new 'Bolly noir' genre.
Sacred Games shares a cast member with Ghoul, Indian starlet Radhika Apte.
The trailer for the new horror series drops tomorrow.
