Written by Tracy Martin and directed by Vanessa Fielding, the play offers a glimpse into the lives of women in north inner city Dublin.
A collaboration between the Abbey Theatre and The Complex, Dublin Will Show You How began with 'The Browbeating Project', an extensive series of workshops devised and led by Vanessa Fielding, the play's director. In these workshops she worked with more than one hundred women from north inner city, whose experiences informed and inspired the script written by Tracy Martin. Fielding is the Artistic Director of The Complex, an arts centre located in North Dublin that is committed to engaging and supporting the local community. She said of her vision for the play: "it is hoped that this will end any endemic tolerance for bullying and coercion, a microcosm of society as reflected in our play".
Dublin Will Show You How opens at the Abbey Theatre, Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1, on Thursday 4 April to Saturday 6 April, before transferring to The Complex, Arran Street East, Dublin 7, where it runs from Tuesday 9 April to Saturday 13 April. Shows begin at 8pm.
Tickets are available from the Abbey Theatre.
