Stranger Than Kindness will feature original artwork, photographs and writing from the frontman of the Bad Seeds.
Stranger Than Kindness, an upcoming book celebrating the artistry of musician Nick Cave, has just been announced by publisher Canongate. Featuring previously unreleased material, the hardback will hit storefronts on 23 March 2020. Images will come coupled with "commentary and meditations from Cave" and writer Darcey Steinke on central themes of Cave's work, according to Canongate.
The book's release will run parallel with a new exhibition on Cave opening in Copenhagen. "Stranger Than Kindness: The Nick Cave Exhibition" will be hosted in The Black Diamond, and runs from 23 March to 3 October.
“Stranger Than Kindness is a journey in images and words into the creative world of musician, storyteller and cultural icon Nick Cave," Canongate said. "This highly collectible book contains images selected by Cave from ‘Stranger Than Kindness: The Nick Cave Exhibition,’ presented by the Royal Danish Library in partnership with Arts Centre Melbourne. Featuring full-colour reproductions of original artwork, handwritten lyrics, photographs and collected personal artefacts, it presents Cave’s life, work and inspiration and explores his many real and imagined universes."

Canongate CEO Jamie Byng could not contain his excitement about the release.
“I can’t think of many creative forces whose output has been as consistently original, striking, affecting and memorable as Nick Cave’s. Or whose work just keeps getting better and better with time," Byng said. "But over his remarkable career, Nick has achieved a breadth of artistic mastery that I believe is second to none and with his latest creation, Stranger than Kindness, he has brought together many of the elements that have made this life so compelling and inspiring."
Stranger Than Kindness releases 23 March 2020.
