Norma Manly has returned with a new single, 'The One' — which is available to stream now.
Irish singer-songwriter Norma Manly has returned with a meandering, bluesy new track, 'The One.'
The release marks her second single, following 2020's 'Thought of You' and her debut single 'Blue'. Norma's first EP Blue captures a refinement and progression of her sound without losing any of the passion that she brings to her live shows. Jazzy, intense and sultry, Manly's sound has drawn influences from the greats of old, while still seeking to innovate. Grooved out bass lines and melodic vocals set the stage for contemporary flourishes, marking her music out as a meeting of the past and present.
Having grown up in rural Co. Tipperary, Manly was raised surrounded by a wide-range of sounds. She would draw on these influences as she progressed, developing an aptitude for tender, sweet and nostalgic songwriting. Each of her songs are imbued with a sense of warmth, winding melodies evoking images of home, loved ones and cherished memories.
Her debut EP Blue was recorded in Ballyhane Studios in County Limerick the summer of 2018, and was greeted with critical acclaim. The International Songwriting Association described her work as "powerful, melodic songwriting with mesmerising stage performances".
She has played a string of lives dates across Ireland, including appearances at Whelan's and the Grand Social Club in Dublin.
