There is a major gathering tonight in Smock Alley, to mark World Mental Health Day. Entitled Now We’re Talking – Live, it is part of the initiative pioneered by Hot Press, Lyon’s Tea and Pieta House, which aims to empower people to talk about mental health issues. Among the artists appearing are Delorentos, HamsandwicH, Saint Sister, Stephen James Smyth and Emma Quinn – winner of the Now We’re Talking songwriting competition, run in association with BIMM.
Tonight will see a major gathering of the creative and musical clans in Smock Alley for Now We’re Talking – Live. It is a moment to which everyone in Hot Press been looking forward – more or less since last year’s event.
That night proved to be one of the most talked about of the year, with performances from Lisa Hannigan, Wyvern Lingo, Emmet Kirwan and Stephanie Rainey among the highlights.
There were also superb contributions from a variety of panellists, including Eoghan McDermott of 2fm, Ciara Kelly of Newstalk and Irish rugby international Sene Naoupu among others.
Tonight's Now We're Talking - Live promises more of the same. There is a wonderful list of performers lined up, with the brilliant Delorentos, HamsandwicH, Saint Sister, Stephen James Smyth and Emma Quinn – winner of the Now We’re Talking songwriting competition, run in association with BIMM – all set to perform.
Overnight, the word came through that artist and teacher Joe Caslin had been hospitalised, and so he will miss tonight’s event. Our very best wishes go out to Joe – we know that he is in good hands!
