Olaf Paul Tyaransen was born in Dublin in 1971, but spent his formative years in Galway. His first book, the poetry collection, The Consequences Of Slaughtering Butterflies, was published in 1992. He began writing for Hot Press in 1991 and has since gone on to establish a national profile as one of Ireland’s most adventurous and controversial scribes. He makes occasional appearances on radio and television and his journalism has been widely translated and re-published in Europe, America, Japan and Australia. His poetry has appeared in numerous anthologies and journals and been broadcast on RTE radio and the BBC World Service.
In 1997, Tyaransen formed the Cannabis Legalisation Party with University College Cork law lecturer Tim Murphy and unsuccessfully ran for government office in the Irish general election. His autobiographical odyssey The Story Of O, which included a gut-busting account of his flirtation with the democratic process, was published by Hot Press Books in 2000, to considerable acclaim, establishing his reputation as a bright new spark on the literary landscape. Sex Lines is the latest instalment in what is emerging as one of the most intriguing, and self-revelatory, creative adventures of the new millennium.

Olaf currently divides his time between Dublin and other places. Wherever he is, going to bed is always a priority.
