Olivia Rodrigo's hugely anticipated follow-up to debut album SOUR is underway.
Olivia Rodrigo revealed in a recent interview with Billboard that she has already picked a title and "a few songs" for her highly anticipated sophomore album.
After the massive success of her debut single 'Drivers License' and debut album Sour, Rodrigo has firmly established herself as the biggest up and coming pop star on the scene. At just 19-years-old, the singer has already secured the US title Woman of The Year for 2022, a Grammy nod and six other award nominations for this spring.
"I have a title for my next album and a few songs. It’s really exciting to think about the next world that’s coming up for me," she said. "I just love writing songs. I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself. I want to just explore and have fun right now."
"It’s definitely a different experience writing a second album after having a debut that was so well received. I still write so much of my music in my bedroom though, and I don’t think that experience will ever change. Writing songs will hopefully always be an outlet for me to process my feelings before anything else."
Sour — which displayed a wide range of styles from the electric, pulsing 'Brutal' to the meandering heartbreak ballad 'Traitor' — in large part broke the surface of mainstream pop, introducing the early-2000s punk influences that have been making a revival in last few years to a more general audience.
"I absolutely love pop-punk and emo music. I think more than anything people are longing for those super emotional, less polished moments in music, so the aggressiveness of punk is really enticing," Rodrigo explained.

Recently, the LA-native announced a new project, called Driving Home 2 U (A Sour Film), which will be released via Disney+ on March 25.
Featuring guests Jacob Collier, Blu DeTiger and Towa Bird, the film follows Rodrigo on a road-trip from Salt Lake City, Utah to Los Angeles. Throughout the drive, she'll stop at various locations, including Mojave Airplane Boneyard and the Red Rock Canyon State Park, to perform songs from the album.
In addition to the movie, Rodrigo will be departing on a UK and Ireland tour this summer, with dates at Cork's Live at the Marquee on June 29th and Dublin's Fairview Park on June 30th.
