Paul and Gary O'Donovan won the hearts of their fellow countrymen after winning silver medals for rowing in Rio, then going on to provide some of the best craic in the interviews that followed. Now they're guests on The Late Late Show this evening.
Joining the men from Skibereen tonight will be Belfast boxer Michael Conlan who sparked controversy throughout Rio and Ireland and further afield after an expletive-filled interview in which he called the IABA "cheating fucking bastards" and accused the higher ups in the amateur boxing world of rigging his quarter-final match against Russian Vladimir Nikitin. With the weight of popular support behind him, Conlan remains unbowed and unbroken and will likely have much more to add this eveing.
Annalise Murphy, who won her silver medal in sailing last month and in doing so cast out all memories of her prickling fourth place finish back in London 2012, will also be joining her fellow Olympians this evening.
Joining the Olympians is Minister for Sport Shane Ross who will no doubt be questioned about the ticketing scandal which saw IOC President Pat Hickey arrested and jailed in a Rio prison and its implications.
