Through Sadaka, the Ireland Palestine Alliance, countless Irish artists, musicians and creatives have come together to sign an open letter to the President of the United States requesting a permanent and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza.
The Ireland Palestine Alliance, Sadaka, has initiated an open letter from Irish artists to U.S. President Joe Biden concerning the current war crisis in Gaza, sent today.
Over 100 artists have signed the letter, which demands a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, humanitarian aid to those within and the commence a political process leading to a just outcome which meets the legitimate demands of the Palestinian people for self-determination.
It’s one of three letters being sent to the President, from varying groups of Irish society. The idea is to leverage the President's connection to Ireland, an identity heavily invested in earlier this year.

With the next Presidential elections occurring next year, the letter emphasises that the people of Ireland in fact stand strongly for the rights of the people of Palestinian. It has since been signed by artists from Bob Geldof to Shampain, Sunil Sharpe to Bill Whelan.
Part of the two-page letter reads, “The United States is Israel’s most powerful ally in this was on the people of Palestine. We ask that you demand a permanent and unconditional ceasefire to bring an end to this death and destruction; secure full access to all humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza; and commence a political process leading to a just outcome which meets the legitimate demands of the Palestinian people for self-determination, thus ensuring peace and security for Palestinians and Israelis alike.”
Sadaka is an independent, non-governmental and non-party political organisation committed to the achievement of political and human rights for the entire nation of Palestinian people, established in 2009.
