Perhaps best known for his role in hit US comedy King of Queens Patton Oswalt has stacked up a steady list of credits as a class-act entertainer. Oswalt earned a TV Critics Choice Award for his appearances on his favorite TV show Parks and Recreation, while this past October Oswalt released his special Annihilation on Netflix to critical acclaim as he addressed his own devastating loss following the passing of his late wife last year.

Additionally, he won the Emmy for “Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special” for his sixth comedy special Talking for Clapping and received a Grammy nomination for “Best Comedy Album,” as well as a Showtime one-hour special of the same name.

Oswalt has appeared in many films, including The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with Ben Stiller, Steven Soderbergh’s The Informant!, Observe and Report alongside Seth Rogen, Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia, as well as Zoolander, Starsky and Hutch, and Reno 911!: Miami, among many others.

Both an accomplished performer and writer, both of his published books Zombie Spaceship Wasteland (2011) and Silver Screen Fiend (2015) are New York Times Best Sellers.

Now Patton has announced he will come to Dublin's Vicar Street on 8th June 2019. The last time the comic was due to play in Ireland was a booked slot at 2017's Vodafone Comedy Carnival in Galway, which he had to cancel due TV scheduling conflicts.

This news comes after Oswalt took to social media to celebrate his one year anniversary with wife Meredith Salanger.

Oswalt was previously married to Michelle McNamara, a crime writer who died in her sleep in 2016 due to a combination of prescribed medications and an undiagnosed heart condition.

Following a Tweet that remarrying 14 months after his wife's death was "creepy", Oswalt posted this reply:
