Internationally successful Irish outfit Picture This has just been announced as headliners for this year’s Countdown Concert at Dublin Castle on 31 December 2021.
The Life in Colour quartet will be joined by special guests Lyra and Ryan Sheridan.
The Countdown Concert starts at 8pm, with excitement building to a crescendo as the clock strikes 12. Now in its tenth year, New Year's Festival Dublin will be better than ever with six spectacular events set to take place over two days in the heart of the city.
Representing a classic underdog story, Picture This has amassed nearly 300 million total streams and sold out stadiums since emerging several years ago. Curating a cinematic pop rock style of their own, the band’s 2017 self-tilted full-length debut, Picture This, kicked off a history-making run.
In Ireland, it went triple-platinum, clinched No.1 on Ireland’s Overall Chart for four weeks, and topped the Streaming Chart for seven weeks. Ticket sales later eclipsed 500,000 as they headlined the O2 Shepherd’s Bush London, SSE Arena Belfast, and 3Arena.

2019’s MDRN LV yielded hits such as 'One Drink' and 'Everything Or Nothing'. It also stood out as “the top-selling album from an Irish Artist in 2019.” They maintained their momentum by touring with Jonas Brothers and unveiling the 2020 fan favourite 'Unconditional.'

Fellow NYE Countdown Concert performer LYRA brings a perfect blend of dark electronic pop to the fore. Part vintage, part contemporary, she exudes a sense of being free from the constraints of time and era. LYRA performed at the likes of Latitude, Wilderness, Leeds and Reading, Transmt, Neighbourhood Festival and the Isle of Wight this summer alone.
LYRA recently co-wrote the lead track along with Grammy award winning Bill Whelan for the new Riverdance animation movie. 'Light Me Up” will be released in March of next year.
Ryan Sheridan remains one of Ireland’s most phenomenal guitarists. Sheridan burst onto the Irish music scene with the release of his high-energy, acoustic-guitar-driven debut hit single 'Jigsaw' in 2011.
The tune was quickly followed by the smash hit single 'The Dreamer', which then led to the release of his platinum album debut The Day You Live Forever. As his European fanbase went from strength to strength, Ryan was one of the top touring acts in Germany.
Ryan's sophomore album, Here And Now, went on to debut at No.1 in the Irish album chart. The singer-songwriter later toured extensively to sold out audiences across China, the US, Germany and the UAE before being put on hold due to the pandemic. October sees Ryan’s second single release from his upcoming third album, due for release in May 2022. 'Parachute’ follows recent hit ‘Fine Wine’, and will be released everywhere on October 29th.

“This is the 10th year of the New Year’s Festival Dublin," Alison Gilliland, Lord Mayor of Dublin, said. "It gets bigger and better every time and we hope this year will be no different. There really is something for everyone this New Year’s, so come on into town and bring the family. As we leave behind 2021 there is real optimism now that hopefully we can all look forward to a better year ahead. After a pretty quiet New Year’s last year, let’s ring in 2022 in style!”
