Audience members attended event in London's Palladium Theatre this weekend not realising it would feature a reading from Waters' unpublished memoir
English Musician and song writer Roger Waters has courted controversy once again after telling audience members to 'fuck off' at a gig last weekend after 'he spent an hour reading from his memoir rather than singing'.
The show took place on Sunday at the London Palladium where many fans in attendance hoped to see him perform his new version of Dark Side of the Moon. Instead audience members were disappointed to find that Waters chose to read from his unpublished memoir allegedly titled 'Dark Side of the Moon, Memoirs of a Lanky Prick'.
The event was billed as Roger Waters premiering his new recording 'Dark Side of the Moon Redux', a reimagining of the original 1973 album released 50 years ago. What fans did not realise was the event was scheduled to be a double bill featuring two halves. 'The first; "other stuff", and the second; The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux in full. The scheduled timings were: doors 6:30pm, first half 8pm, 8:50pm interval, 9:10pm Redux, 10pm end'.
According to audience members waters read a story involving a duck coming to the family home for 20 minutes. Another audience member states that the veteran rock star admonished audience member who were talking. The situation escalated to Waters telling audience members to 'fuck off' when being heckled.
Brain Damage, a website which considers itself to be the premier Pink Floyd news resource wrote on Monday of the Sunday night gig: 'Unfortunately, Roger came on late (around 8:15pm) and therefore the timings all were thrown out. The first half was a lot longer than scheduled, and as Roger himself said at the end of that half, the start of the second half would be a 20 minute film BEFORE performing the Redux Dark Side'.

This is not the first time Waters has proved to be controversial. The Pink Floyd frontman has been criticised for his support of the BDS (the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement against Israel. Waters was also investigated by German police in May of this year for wearing a leather trench coat and red armband at a concert in Frankfurt. This event prompted the US Department of state to condemn the songwriter's action as 'deeply offensive to jewish people'.
As of yet, there is no scheduled release date for Water's memoir. In spite of the adverse reaction of audience members to Water's performance, the singer posted an update on his Twitter describing the two shows as 'amazing'.
THANK YOU FOR TWO AMAZING NIGHTS AT THE @LondonPalladium!
