That Inking Feeling
Toasters, tumble dryers, even dustbins, are all becoming IT-enabled, so when robot revolution comes it will be mundane household devices, rather than Terminators, who will take over the planet. Even printers are becoming too smart for their own good.
The PIXMA MG5750, MG6850 and MG7750, for example, not only print, copy and scan, but communicate with apps, including Instagram and Slideshare.
Canon’s Cloud Link Scan and Remote Print let you scan a document or photo with one printer – and print from another (in a different location) through the cloud.
The MG7750, which comes with a €239.99 price tag, lets users print and scan via the Canon PRINT app by bouncing an NFC-enabled smart device off the printer. Users can access social networks and business services from touch screens on the MG6850 (€179.99) and MG5750 (€139.99). All three printers are available from October 2015.
