On the heels of a sold-out Liberty Hall show, Dockers is set to return to Dublin this April.
Following a sold-out show at Liberty Hall in 2024, Dockers is poised to make its theatrical return at The Ambassador Theatre in Dublin from 9th to 12th April 2025.
Dockers is an expansive musical theatre production that revisits the history of the Dublin docks, with songs from Damien Dempsey.
The show stars Rising Sons alum George Murphy alongside multi-instrumentalist and singer Tara Howley. Murphy will take on the role of Jacko Dunne, a Dublin docker, who recounts his life along Dublin’s waterfront through story and song; Howley plays Nora, the bar manager and cousin of Jacko.
Directed by Joe O’Byrne, Dockers was written by Gary Brown, a native Dubliner and son of a docker, whose previous writing credits include the esteemed show The Buttonmen.
According to the show’s creators, Dockers recounts a way of life in Dublin that is, at once, hard, witty, poignant and soulful, “while also reminding us of the powerful history and culture of Dublin Port and its significance to modern Ireland”.

“Powerful ballads and music describe work practices, tools, and dockland landmarks,” the press release continues. “Murphy’s inimitable voice as docker Jacko Dunne and Tara Howley’s melodic voice and playing, recounts working, carousing, loving, and leaving through powerfully delivered ballads and music”.
Tickets are on sale now, with previews starting from €23.65 and the show from €39.20. You can purchase them via Ticketmaster.
