The union "commits to support the political, civil and human rights of all Palestinians"
In a motion passed at its recent AGM, Praxis, The Artists' Union of Ireland, has committed to work for the rights of all Palestinians, and become an "Apartheid-Free Zone."
Praxis, a "members-led union", held its fourth AGM online earlier this week. The union has consistently expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine – and particularly Palestinian artists – urging its members to attend the ongoing National Demonstrations.
Details of Praxis's recently passed motion were shared online by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (ISPC), who praised the union's "principled solidarity with Palestine and commitment to the culture boycott".
As outlined in the motion, Praxis "commits to support the political, civil and human rights of all Palestinians, and shall strive to work as a Union for their national and democratic rights, including the Right of Return for Palestinian refugees and their descendants."
The union is set to take the following actions:

–Make Praxis an "Apartheid-Free Zone" by "committing to support the principles of the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement within the Union."
–Support the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI), "by boycotting Israeli academic and cultural institutions."
–Encourage ("by means of an email-writing campaign by the Praxis Palestine Solidarity Working Group") arts organisations in Ireland to also commit to becoming Apartheid-Free Zones.
–Encourage its members to sign the ISPC's Irish Artists' Pledge to Boycott Israel.
–Show "public support for Irish artists who have faced censorship because of their support for Palestine."
–Endorse and, where possible, attend ISPC's National Demonstrations as a union, in support of Palestine
