Bangor singer-songwriter Sam Wickens shared his bewitching debut album 'All I've Seen' back in 2019.
Northern Irish Sam Wickens is slated to release his new single ‘Civil’ tomorrow, with Hot Press premiering the powerful song below.
Speaking about the release Sam said: “'Civil' tells a coming of age story of a boy that is growing up through a troubled home, trying to find his own way in life and grow an understanding.”
Describing relationships between a mother, father and brother; the song explores anger, frustration and a sense of hopelessness at his fractured home.
Wickens is a mesmerising performer, gifted with the talent to arouse the soul with haunting melodies laced with poignant lyrics sung with his trademark transparency of spirit.
Compared to Jeff Buckley, John Martyn, Death Cab For Cutie, Tom Waits, Sam is a soulful writer and performer with a restless creativity, conveying a personal blend of electronic, soul, blues, gospel, folk and indie.

Sam Wickens released his NI Music Prize-nominated debut album, All I've Seen in 2019 via dootdoot Records.
On All I’ve Seen, Wickens said, “I wanted to create a family of songs, I needed an open space to be able to get different aspects of my mind out! I wanted to make something new, something not everyone will like, but they all will respect. Music is my way of communicating with people and the world.”
Wickens returned last November with a brand new single 'Strange.24' alongside a deeply reflective accompanying music video. The single movingly captures his battle with mental illness – themes that are further explored in the accompanying music video, in which his struggles are depicted as a maze of darkness and despair.
Earlier this year, the Down talent released his Watson EP.
