The Burma return with a video for their latest single, 'Don't Believe Your Dreams,' which is the first cut off of their upcoming 2022 album.
The Burma have returned with an energetic, atmospheric video for their latest single, 'Don't Believe Your Dreams,' which stands as the title track off of their debut album, coming later this year.
Drawing upon 80s nostalgia, the video shows the band playing onstage in front of whirling lights — an approach that matches the light synth and swirling instrumentals that are woven throughout the song. Jamming out in front of roving lyrics, the band infuses intensity into the fun, upbeat instrumentals.
Pop-forward but still holding onto the ethos of alternative rock, 'Don't Believe Your Dreams' marks the next step in the trios sonic evolution; as they experiment with different sounds, their versatility and creativity just shines brighter. Bending into the realms of Glass Animals, The Strokes and The Killers, the band takes sounds from the early indie scene and adapts them to the modern era — creating something that is familiar, yet still new.
Named after the Burma Steps in Cobh, The Burma — made up of Tony O Donovan (Vocals and Rhythm Guitar), Peter Piggott (Lead Guitar, Synths and Backing Vocals) and Cian Doherty (Drummer and Percussionist) — are based in Cork. The trio shared their debut EP Sugar Moonlight in April of 2020, which has since garnered 50,000 streams across platforms.
