Brennan's brand new single was written backstage at an Irish theatre while Iann was supporting Declan O’Rourke.
Emerging Irish musician Iann Brennan has unveiled the colourful clip for new single 'Mission To Mars', premiered below by Hot Press.
'Mission To Mars' is the follow up single to Iann Brennan’s debut album Start As You Mean To Go On and debut single 'Circles'. The sold-out album launch show took place in Dublin’s Cobblestone music venue on May 11, 2019 and saw performances of Iann's original work. The project is an eclectic mix of heartfelt, melodic and anthemic songs, recorded and produced over a period of 18 months by producer Ray Traynor.
Along the way, Brennan contacted former Aslan songwriter/bass player Tony McGuiness, who also wrote a hit song for The Script. After hearing Iann’s tracks, he agreed to bring some magical, grooving bass lines to Start As You Mean To Go On. The Dubliner later secured U2’s renowned album designer Steve Averill to design his album cover, logo and artwork.
Since becoming a full time musician, Iann has successfully played support to some of Ireland’s legendary music performers, such as Declan O'Rourke, Aslan, Freddie White, Kila, Mary Coughlan, and Lisa Hannigan. '80s icon Hazel O'Connor and the incredible Eddi Reader also tapped Brennan as a support act.
After touring consistently for the last two or three years around Ireland and the UK, Brennan decided he needed to get back into the studio and bring this song to life. The essence of 'Mission to Mars' is about wanting to get to a certain place in your life and stopping at nothing to get there.

"It was recorded it in March, I had the song recorded, mixed, mastered and had the video done all within a week - which is quite crazy to be honest," Iann tells Hot Press of the track's origins. "I wanted the direction of the production on the song to be very different from my first album. I wanted a more rock/indie route which is something I haven’t tried since leaving my old band and becoming a solo artist."
