'Tell Me So' is the second single from Gavin Fox's highly anticipated debut album, Awakened.
Irish singer-songwriter Gavin Fox has shared a heartfelt video for his 2022 single, 'Tell Me So.'
The track acts as the second release from his highly anticipated debut album, Awakened. With the Dubliner playing alongside accompanying musicians and their guitars, the video is simple, yet cinematic. Set in front of a plain backdrop in heavy darkness, Fox and his guitar are backlit by warm lightbulbs — evoking a comfort and cosiness that matches the raspy vocalisations and authentic lyricism.
"The song is about checking in with each other a little more than perhaps we do. In a strange world, many people are going through their own personal battles each day," explained Fox. "Despite the image they may portray to the outside world, some are privately facing difficult struggles in inside their mind. It would be a real shame if you were to live your whole life and not know how much you were cared for or how much you matter."
Almost more akin to poetry than songwriting, Fox weaves profound observations between simple, yet effective guitar melodies. With a mix of metaphor and outright questioning, 'Tell Me So,' exposes a vulnerability — a commentary on how loneliness exists only as long as we let it.
"Some live a whole life and they never know / Might be drowning in the water and you dip your toe / Performing like a friend but their mind’s a foe / Could use a little help when they’re feeling low," the track begins, the bittersweet guitar melody juxtaposing his deep voice.

It's a theme that makes sense for Fox, who began songwriting during the first lockdown. Surrounded by the uncertainty and isolation, he turned to creating music — uncovering a knack for honest, sincere storytelling. Since, he has risen to both national and international prominence, gaining coverage on Hot Press.
"The right word, at the right time, can make all the difference. And a superficial 'how are you?' is not what's needed," continued the singer. 'That's like dipping your toe in the water when someone is drowning. Sometimes we need to dive a little deeper."
