The single is Peter Richardson's third release ahead of his upcoming EP, which will be unveiled later this year.
Gentle, soaring and full of nostalgic comfort, Peter Richardson's new single 'The Coast' will transport you.
The up-and-coming Dublin singer-songwriter will be unveiling the track officially this Friday, February 18, The single is taken from his debut EP, which is set to be released later this year.
Influenced by the likes of Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and Ben Howard; Richardson infuses soft vocals and repeating guitar with swelling cello, barely-there piano and gorgeous background harmonies that track the crests and falls of his voice. It's serene, yet imbued with a sense of gentle urgency; evoking the feeling of borrowed time. Deeply personal, the peaceful instrumentation within 'The Coast' is a salve for nostalgic lyricism.
"Meet me at the coast when all this is over/ out across the rocks, down by the water... Let's move out of here / Far from this place we call home," he croons.
This marks the singer's third release, after his debut single 'The End of The World,' and sophomore track, 'Please Don't Believe Me' - unveiled the following year. He began writing when he was just 15, having grown up surrounded by music. Peter started recording his written work and honing his craft at his home during the summer of 2020.

For him, 'The Coast' is an encapsulation of a feeling, more than a physical place. The soft awe that follows the breaking of the clouds; the bliss of leaving the past behind and stepping towards the future.
"Much of the imagery in the song is built around the importance of nature in folk music," said Richardson. "How the experience of nature’s beautiful serenity can bring with it peace, and how its use in music can capture feelings of joy and content."
So far, we've seen a range from the 22-year-old Dublin native. With 'The End of the World' veering into the realm of dramatic indie-folk and 'Please Don't Believe Me,' acting as a folk-pop ballad of love and loss; 'The Coast' is firmly in the acoustic world.
Now working with producer Cian Sweeney (AKA 1000 Beasts) on his upcoming EP, it'll be monumentally exciting to see where Peter Richardson goes next.
