Watch the Hot Press video premiere for vibrant new Zapho single 'Peoples' below.
Irish electro-pop artist Zapho (real name Ele Breslin) has unveiled the video for 'Peoples', the first single to be released from her forthcoming debut album.
The slow burning track perfectly fuses funk, soul and electronic R&B. 'Peoples' is undeniably groove drenched – chock full of rolling bass lines and rich, soulful vocals.
After already receiving welcomed acclaim, The X Collective member Zapho is back with an equally enticing visual for the single.
Premiered by Hot Press, the video is a mirage – a disorientation. Two women, played by Ghalia Conroy and Saoirse Lambkin O'Kane, are shown darting around Dublin, exploring empty streets in a fog while Zapho's smooth vocals ground the piece.
Zapho said of the video: “Peoples' is very much a reflection of my younger self, searching for the types of people that excited me - spiritually, romantically, platonically, creatively.”

"I imagined originally filling up a room with a load of sexy sweaty extras, but the pandemic forced my team and I to come up with something else on the fly that explained the fantasy and captured the darker elements in the song," the musician and producer added.
"The video for me is that moment when you lock eyes with someone you find really attractive on a night out, someone that is staring right back at you thinking all the same things. You are completely drawn in by them, who are they, what's their deal, oh god they're looking back at me, play it cool."
"Peoples' is when you find someone special who helps you achieve your dreams, by helping you access your power, it's great if you fancy them too!"
Directed by Conor Dockery and Lia Lieghio, the majority of the visual was shot in The Grand Social.
"I had a team of nine gals most of whom were queer artists in their own right and amazingly talented in their own respective arts field. I wanted to capture attraction, curiosity and a performance of sorts."
Stay tuned for Zapho's debut LP this year, and hopefully more from The X Collective. Focusing on the production and promotion of Irish recording artists and industry creatives, the group was founded by Zapho and Emily Shaw of Oíche Events.
The X Collective features esteemed artists like Shookrah, Shiv, ELKAE, Toshín, Shy Mascot, Gemma Bradley, Mutant Vinyl, Brenna Carroll, Decarteret, Jess Kav as well as a "host of music industry professionals working to promote and elevate the musical industry landscape in Ireland and beyond".
