The richly textured track was partially recorded on equipment damaged in a fire.
The official debut release of self-described 'blow in' Ev Carm has been a long time in the making. Born in Limerick, raised in Kildare, and now living in Dublin city, Carm has been self releasing demos and making the odd live appearance here and there for years. Hot Press is proud to help introduce him to the world with his first official release.
'Laugh Again' comes via indie label andfriends Records (founded by none other than Rafino Murphy, who might be familiar to you as lo-fi genius Uly), and draws its lyrical inspiration from separation and distortion of memory. Laconic phrasing weaves deftly over rich, full production. It's like sinking into a warm bath, or tea by the fire. 'Laugh Again' feels familiar, as though you're returning to something. Remarkably, much of the equipment used to produce 'Laugh Again' was either borrowed or damaged.
