The title track from Niall McNamee's forthcoming EP, 'Step By Step' speaks of a magical night with a love interest.
Singer-songwriter and acting talent Niall McNamee has starred opposite Pierce Brosnan, fought with Jackie Chan, played comic foil to Bono, and romantically duetted with Imelda May, but a brand new EP is the project currently on his mind.
McNamee's Step By Step EP is filled with passionate, thoughtful and full-blooded tracks, with Hot Press premiering the title track today ahead of the EP's release.
Touching on life experiences and human emotions, the five-track EP narrates heartbreak, nights out, ecstatic joy and reflection.
'Step By Step' showcases the self-taught musician's deep love for storytelling, focusing on a past romance in the beautiful Scottish city of Edinburgh.
"I wrote 'Step By Step' on the train back from Edinburgh a few years ago. I had an amazing moment with someone I had been in love with your years on the Calton Hill in Edinburgh that I didn’t expect," Niall tells Hot Press. "I started writing from the literal moments we went step by step up to the monuments at the top for the sunrise. It quickly became a favourite at gigs for people and there was no way I was leaving it off my first EP."

Throughout years as a struggling young actor, Niall supported himself performing Irish folk songs, resulting in his knowledge of traditional music growing rich and deep. All the while, he was writing his own material, drawing on that heritage but pushing into contemporary rock and pop territory. Drawing inspiration from artists like Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, The Pogues, Christy Moore and The Undertones; McNamee is hoping to make his own name as a musician with his new five-track project.
Fellow EP tracks 'China In A Box' and 'Fishpond' bring fond memories with lovers and friends into the forefront, with simple instrumentation allowing his soulful, raw vocals to burn brightly.
Enchanting melodies, a soaring string section and gentle guitar arrangements tell a thousand tales.
Having written and performed with leading Irish singer-songwriter Imelda May, their latest duet 'Don’t Let Me Stand On My Own' from the No. 1 album 11 Past The Hour has made a powerful impact.
McNamee has built a devoted fanbase and performed sold-out concerts at notable London venues, including The Dublin Castle, The Bedford and The Antelope.
Next up is a starring role in feature film Love Without Walls, performing his own compositions, as the creative's art and life come together. 2021 is shaping up to be a very big year for the multi-talented star.
