Electronic project SENU (Sam Killeen) has shared the lyric video for his new single 'S3', featuring Jamel Franklin, exclusively with Hot Press.

SENU is the intense, hypnotic moniker from Dublin producer and multi-instrumentalist Sam Killeen – a home for his unique blend of electronic beats, jazz and hip-hop. A session guitarist for most of his career, Killeen has shared the stage with such artists as James Vincent McMorrow, Villagers, Lisa Hannigan and Aimee. He has also produced for Loah, Eve Belle, Royal Yellow and Alex Gough.

Brooklyn-born, Miami-raised rapper Jamel Franklin of Shy Mascot moved to Dublin a number of years ago and has since collaborated with Tolu Makay, Danny G and the Major 7th, French producer Midblue and SENU.

SENU and Jamel Franklin have teamed up before, when Franklin provided MC duties for 2020's ‘Jetlag 4’. The track followed the release of ‘Thought I Saw You (feat. Caoi De Barra)’ which featured vocals from Wyvern Lingo’s Caoimhe Barry. Both singles as well as 'S3' will feature on SENU’s eagerly-awaited upcoming album, Jetlag, which is due to arrive on May 21st.

“I recorded S3 in my bedroom just after the first lockdown in Ireland was lifted," Sam Killeen says.

"Jamel clicked with the beat instantly, we both felt so excited about it. The songwriting process flowed really organically. The rest of the album was written two years ago in New York. Fast-forward two years later and the whole world has changed; I can’t help but let that change me creatively too. Because of that space and time, this track signifies a step in a new creative direction for me and is distinct from the rest of the album.”

The lyric video features bright lights, modern graphics and explosive shrapnel backgrounds that emphasise Franklin's deep vocals and smooth rap wordplay. His talent shines alongside the electronic bass beats curated by SENU, full of trap energy that pushes the genre's boundaries.
