Five Dublin markets will be out of action come June, as the Newmarket location will undergo refurbishment lasting a number of months.
Newmarket Square in the Liberties have been home to five of the most popular flea markets Dublin has to offer - Dublin Flea Market, The Pure Vintage Fair, World Culture Market, The Brocante and the Newmarket Collective. Making their mark in the city's most historic quarter, they blend into the happenings of the community and attract both locals and tourists looking to pick up some gems.
But come the 12th of June, all five Sunday markets will be out of a location and therefore, in transit until a new location is found. It is understood that the partnership behind the works - the Newmarket Partnership - have not responded to comments from other national media outlets covering the story.
The demolishment and refurbishment is part of an overall development plan for the Liberties - that will include several new buildings such as offices, a hotel and apartments.
Other local businesses such as the Dublin Food Co-op and the Green Door Market must also vacate the area, despite the limited amount of notice they received.
Though the area will feel the loss of such markets, all five names are currently seeking a new site suitable for their needs, with the Dublin Flea Market stating on their Instagram page that it would be "an exciting opportunity for a city district in Dublin that wants to avail of an established Sunday market collective with guaranteed footfall, new business opportunity and a strong community focus."

The Dublin Flea Market has been in operation at the Newmarket location since 2008 and garnered popularity through praise from national and international visitors.
For some, it was the mix of vintage and antiques amongst one of Dublin's oldest district. Never quite knowing what you'd find, a visit here was the ideal Sunday morning walk with plenty of chance to Tweet or Instagram the wacky and wonderful products on display - old wooden horse statue, anyone? Everything made sense given the surroundings.
Should anyone know of a suitable location for the five Sunday markets to be re-homed to, the Dublin Flea Market have posted a description on their Instagram account of what such a place would need.
