As well as exclusive interviews with Shane MacGowan, the book features contributions from his wife and family, close associates, former girlfriends, his English teacher from school, and more.
Two-and-a-half years after the release of Richard Balls' acclaimed Shane MacGowan biography, A Furious Devotion, a brand new paperback edition has been released – which has been revised and updated to include the iconic artist's final months, and the phenomenal response to his passing.
A Furious Devotion tells the remarkable story of a man that many would consider the greatest songwriter of his generation – chronicling hugely formative experiences like Shane's trips to his mother's homestead in Tipperary, and the explosion of punk in London.
Described by Hot Press as "meticulously researched, balanced and rather excellent", the book features exclusive interviews with Shane, as well as contributions from his wife and family, and people who have never spoken publicly about Shane before – such as close associates, former girlfriends and the English teacher who first spotted his literary gift.
Nick Cave, Aidan Gillen, Cillian Murphy, Christy Moore, Sinead O’Connor and Dermot O’Leary all pay tribute to the legendary songwriter in A Furious Devotion – which also includes previously unseen personal photographs.
