"It's our home and part of our cultural identity," Rock For Culture's Instagram bio states.
On September 22nd at 1pm, Rock For Culture will hold their second protest in support of saving Fibbers, this time on the doorstep of An Bord Pleanála.
The O'Connell Street beer garden at Fibbers has been home to alternative arts and culture for 43 years, and is now facing closure – only to be replaced with an expansion of the Holiday Inn Hotel.
Dublin City Council has recently approved planning permission for the Holiday Inn to expand, meaning the ultimate destruction of the O'Connell Street beer garden that so many hold dear. This beer garden connects Murray's Pub, Fibber Magee's and the Living Room, and has been the safe space for alternative Dubliners to come together as a community for years.
Rock For Culture emerged with their first protest on August 11th held outside of the Holiday Inn itself. The next step is to take the protest directly to An Bord Pleanála, who have so far ignored the countless appeals sent to them and the petition with over 10,000 signatures.
The protest will be held at 1pm, and will follow suit with the first installation. It will have an array of live music and performers, along with speakers. Drag Queen Coco Ri will return for a performance. Joining the roster is nnothersday - who will perform "an improvised story and piano performance outlining 20 years of history of Dublin's music venues and club scenes."

The speakers will address what the city has lost due to lack of government care, the importance of the arts and the support that it needs, and future plans for the Rock For Culture movement.
