“I don’t have much of a problem with the way the government is handling the whole issue of downloads, so I wouldn’t be arguing for any changes there. Getting your music heard is good for bands. Given the current state of the economy I think there are far more important issues for the government to deal with than music or the arts in general. Education is one area, as well as the regulation of the financial sector and all the stuff. We should have learned from what went on there. But I would like to see the arts promoted more through the education system. There’s a total disparity in the way, say, sport is treated in schools compared to music. The college newsletter will make a big deal about the sports team playing an average game but there’ll be no mention of a band in the school who might be doing great gigs around the area.”
