The half-hour CG film is currently in production in Ireland, based on the only children’s book from the Pulitzer Prize winning author. Lucy O’Connell from ‘Song of the Sea’ lends her vocal talents as the daughter of Oscar-nominated Negga.
The film is based upon McCourt's book Angela and the Baby Jesus, a heartwarming tale of how a little girl becomes worried for the safety of the baby Jesus figurine in her local church, as he has to spend Christmas alone.
Damien O’Conner directs a script has has co-written with Will Collins (Wolfwalkers). Frank McCourt’s widow Ellen McCourt serves as an Executive Producer while his brother Malachy, an Irish-American actor, writer and politician, provides the narration.
Ellen McCourt spoke of her pride in seeing the novel come to life. “I am so thrilled to see this beloved story come to life as an animated film. Brown Bag Films’ unparalleled artistry in animation, combined with their Irish roots make them the perfect partner to tell Frank’s children’s classic in a new way.”

Brown Bag Films have twice been nominated for Academy Awards, for the beloved Give Up Yer Aul Sins/i> and Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty, so expectations will be high to see what magic they can weave from McCourt's book.
