The proceeds of the auction in their entirety will go to Médecins Sans Frontières to support their work in Gaza
A three-day exhibition at Copper House Gallery, Dublin, Art for Gaza is set to be opened by Sabina Higgins on Thursday February 29 at 6pm.
Along with Sabina Higgins' address, Irish Palestinian singer Roisín El-Cherif will be performing at the February 29 reception.
This is not the first time Higgins' and El-Cherif have shared a stage, as they stateswoman and artist were both part of the Hot Press Nothing Compares concert in Naas as part of the Kildare County Council St. Brigid's day Festival.
El-Cheriff has been a crucial voice in conveying the plight of Palestinians to Irish people in recent months, through her performance and her activism. The Irish-Palestinian artist recently wrote a devastating personal piece in Hot Pressdiscussing the recent atrocities occurring in Gaza, saying: "There’s something different about this time – the cruelty and the brutality of it".
The three day 'art For Gaza' auction will run in tandem with a worldwide online auction of the artworks by Whyte’s Irish Art & Collectables Auctioneers. This will allow potential buyers to peruse the art works and get a real sense of what they are bidding on at the major online auction.
