Declan O'Rourke has announced his new book will be in stores September 14 and is available for preorder now.
Dublin singer-songwriter Declan O'Rourke has announced his second novel, A Whisper From Oblivion, is now available for preorder and will hit shelves September 14.
The Pawnbroker's Reward, published in 2021, tells the story of a man straddling the class divide in Macroom, County Cork during the Great Hunger. A Whisper From Oblivion will follow the first book in the Chronicles of the Great Irish Famine series.
Though the first book was well received by critics, O'Rourke remains better known as a singer-songwriter.
He released an album, also called Chronicles of the Great Irish Famine, in October of 2017. The album uses traditional folk instruments like the fiddle, flute, and banjo to tell mournful and harrowing stories from that period of Irish history.

His first album, Since Kyabram, debuted at number five on the Official Irish Albums Chart in 2004, and his third album, Mag Pai Zai, spent four weeks in Ireland's Top Ten Albums Chart.
Since then he has gone on to work with big names in the industry, including Paul Weller, who produced his 2021 album, Arrivals.
O'Rourke will tour across Ireland this October and November, including a date at Vicar Street on Saturday November 18.
