Some of Ireland’s finest musical artists come together on charity album Songs For Rosabel, now available on streaming platforms.
Sharon Shannon, The Waterboys, Nathan Carter and many more musicians have come together to create Songs for Rosabel, a charity album featuring various artists and exclusive recordings from Hothouse Flowers to Lucia Evans, Paddy Casey and more. The album honours Rosabel Monroe, the young daughter of Suzanne McClean and Gary Monroe, who died tragically in 2017 at only sixteen months old.
Following Rosabel’s sudden and unexpected passing, her parents started Rosabel’s Rooms, a collaboration with the Irish Hospice Foundation founded in 2018 which provides various financial and therapeutic services for parents who have experienced the death of a child. Sharon Shannon has remained an ambassador for the project and Songs for Rosabel is a gift for the charity, with all proceeds directly funding the efforts of Rosabel’s Rooms.
"This album represents hope," Rosabel’s mother Suzanne McClean comments. "Hope that bereaved parents everywhere will truly understand that they are not alone as they strive to navigate child loss. Hope that they will recognise themselves - and find some resonance of healing - in the songs that have warmed our hearts over and over again, since losing our little girl.”
Speaking about Songs for Rosabel, Shannon shares: “The songs were carefully selected by Gary and Suzanne because these songs in particular helped them enormously with their own personal grieving process after the sudden loss of their baby girl Rosabel. I am honoured to be able to help out.”
